Photojournalism
I love spending my free time capturing the moments around me through a camera lens. To be completely honest, I don't have a lot of photojournalism experience. I hope to learn more photography techniques in the future to capture story-worthy photos. For my portfolio, I chose photos that enact all senses and take me back to that moment. I love photography because it is accessible to everyone and can allow someone who may not be able to travel somewhere to feel like they are on vacation right beside me. Local photography in West Virginia breaks barriers and stereotypes about Appalachia. Mainstream media often polarizes content to hide actual photos of our beautiful state. I enjoy sharing these photos to fight Appalachian hate.
Travel Photography
My absolute favorite type of photography is when traveling. I love to be able to capture unique perspectives that take me back to that moment.

Elizabeth City, North Carolina at the Elizabethan Gardens. This statue in particular is special to me because it is one of the statues dedicated to Queen Elizabeth I whom I was named after.

New York City, New York at Times Square. I took this photo on a recent visit to New York to tour college campuses. When I look at this picture I feel excited to move here in the fall.
Hobe Sound, Florida at my grandparents' summer home. This picture takes me back to countless summer memories spent at the beach.
Local Photography
Growing up in West Virginia presents the best photo opportunities in nature.

Weirton, West Virginia at Weir High School football field. I hope to look back on these pictures to remember Friday night football games and my senior year.
Masontown, West Virginia on Blue Hole Bridge. This "secret" swimming spot is one of my family's favorite summer spots. This picture reminds me of my family and our love for adventure.
Greenbank, West Virginia at Greenbank Observatory. I have spent two summers researching astrophysics at the observatory. This picture is special because it was taken on film. Cell phones are banned in the town because they alter the data from the observatory. I love sharing the photos I took there to share the beautiful scenery that goes unnoticed.
School Photography
I'm still learning photography techniques, and in the future I hope to take more photos of school events!
